This program is for any swimmer who is just learning to swim and is able to make the length of the pool. The program develops the basic fundamentals of the four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.
Prerequisites: One length of the pool

This program is for any swimmer capable of performing any two competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breastroke and freestyle). Swimmers will develop the proper stroke, start, turn and finish techniques for each competitive stroke.
Prerequisites: proficient in at least 2 competitive strokes

Advanced

The start and turn techniques and stroke mechanics learned at the Beginner and Basic levels are enhanced and refined. Swimmers will begin participating in short conditioning sets that reinforce proper stroke technique.

This program is designed for younger swimmers who show a high aptitude for the sport, but are too young for senior style training. Yardage increases and practice elements become more structured as the swimmers are introduced to the concepts of training, endurance, pace, and goal setting.

This program is designed to transition swimmers from the less intense training utilized for younger swimmers to the more mature and intense training required for success in the older age groups. Flexibility to participate in various senior level training will be built into the program to meet the needs of the swimmer and at the discretion of the coaches (i.e. dry-land, extended practices, morning practices).

This is the most aggressive and competitive program the club offers. Practices are tailored to each swimmer ranging from rigorous conditioning to development of proper stroke mechanics, start, turn and finish training. Commitment and attendance are crucial. Swimmers are expected to set short and long term goals, and to take an active role in achieving them.
Prerequisites: Approval of coaches
Age: Generally 13 or older
Attendance requirement: Minimum of 5 Practices Per Week
Required Equipment: Fins; Tempo Trainers

If you have registered with us before (for any aquatics program), please use the same log in information you already have created. Please do not create a new account.
All participants must have a current Boys & Girls Club Membership ($15 for the year). If you are a new participant, or your membership will expire during the session you will be signing up for, it is preferred that you pay this online at time of registration. This must be paid no later than the 2nd week of your participation. If you are unsure when your membership expires, please contact Heidi at hwagnerkiser@bgclubs.org.
For multiple registrations, Please remember to click “+Add Another Registration” on the upper right-side of the checkout page of the first child. Otherwise, the 2nd child, 3rd child, etc. discount will NOT automatically occur.
Online payments are preferred. NO cash please.
If you prefer to:
pay by check, make checks payable to GNBGC (Greater Newark Boys & Girls Club) and send check in with child at practice, or mail to GNBGC, 1 Positive Place, Newark, DE 19702.
Payment is preferred at time of registration. If you choose to pay later, please do so by the 15th of the month for monthly payment option, by June 30, 2023 for the Session.
A $5 late fee may be applied to registrations and membership fees not paid by the due date. We reserve the right to refuse services should fees be unpaid.
All practices require an RSVP. Be sure to join our Team App to RSVP for practices. You may need to request access to the group you register for. If we are at our occupancy limit, you will not be able to practice if you have not RSVP’d.
